luna3 1959 was the first spacecraft to reach the moon, went into orbit and sent pictures of the back of the moon.

the Soviet spacecraft had on board a camera and a small photo lab. She photographed the back side of the moon, developed the pictures and radioed them with a system to Earth, the newspaper editors used his time for the remote transmission of photos.

The Soviet Union but had then no reception facilities for the signals from the satellites. Through a deliberate indiscretion the required information in the West were known, so that the signals were received and recorded in the UK.

On the fringes of a scientific conference, the data is said to have been passed on to the Soviet scientists "via small official channels". So luna3 has overcome borders even on earth.
